We're different…
We're much different from a bank, which is a for-profit institution - in business to make money for its stockholders. Credit union members are interested in reasonably priced products and services that benefit their family and not the bottom line on a shareholder’s spreadsheet. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we're in business to benefit our members. We have a volunteer board of directors, made up of USACU members, who oversee the Credit Union's operations. Our members vote to elect our board of directors, so every member has a voting voice - regardless of the amount of money they have on deposit or in loans.

Eligibility
When you're a part of a credit union, you're a part of a community. We serve a specific community of people; in fact, the very fabric of our government. Eligible members are City, County and State employees who work or reside within a 25 mile radius of our branch, and current and retired Federal government employees in Oregon. Additionally, all federal agencies, active military, postal employees, federal contractors, federal retirees, military retirees, and family members of federal employees are eligible.

Serving this unified group of members allows us to concentrate on a clearly defined group in order to satisfy their financial needs, while complementing their lifestyles and priorities.

You must meet our field of membership requirement in order to become a member. This aspect differentiates us, not only from banks, but from other credit unions as well. Some credit unions have expanded their fields of membership over time to serve entire communities, or multiple counties, or all businesses within a certain geographical area. Therefore, some credit unions' fields of membership are broad, diverse, and open to large groups of unrelated individuals.

At USACU we're committed to our original field of membership, which now includes a full range of unified government employees in city, county, state and federal service, located in Oregon.

Benefits
We're constantly evaluating feedback from our members to provide financial products and services that enhance their lives. Unique services we've designed to address our members' financial needs include such things as Shared Branching, which provides over 1800 service centers nationwide where members can visit to make deposits, withdrawals, transfers, inquiries and more. Additionally, USACU is a member of a network of ATMs called CO-OP Network, providing surcharge-free access to over 20,000 ATMs worldwide. We've developed a Credit Union Home Loan Center, which provides a wide variety of mortgage loans and advice to credit union members across the nation. And for vehicle purchases, we designed AutoCheck. This pre-approval check gives you the cash to negotiate and purchase a new or used vehicle on your terms.
